Sometimes fast dedicated server or high speed dedicated server and high bandwidth server may sound like something similar but in reality, they have certain distinctions. Everybody has their own definition of speed but if we talk about bandwidth, that means the amount of traffic your server can process through. If we talk about a 100mbit server it means that it can process approximately 30TB of data per month. You just cannot exceed this value because if you start downloading or uploading data non-stop for an entire month with no pauses it would be counted eventually as 30-33TB depending if the month is full or not. You cannot cheat time and math.
On the other hand, if the speed of your server is 1Gbps it means that you can process x10 traffic of what you can accomplish with 100mbit. So, it’s approximately 300-330TB of data. If you pick up 10Gbps dedicated server then multiply it by 100. Neat, huh?
Coming up to the definition of high bandwidth server - is a server that is usually equipped with a 1 Gbps or 10 Gbps port or higher and no restrictions are put on the bandwidth itself. When to choose a High Bandwidth Server
When you are looking for high bandwidth dedicated server lease you need to understand for what purposes you would like to buy it. Big amounts of traffic usually cost a penny, and if you have a small e-commerce store with 1000 customers, who generate 20TB of traffic per month there is no reason to look for something like this.
If your business is involved in video and audio streaming, image processing, video processing, big data, or some industry where a big amount of data is constantly moving between server/client during the day, then such a server is the perfect choice for your business.
